The term Internet marketing is most often employed to generally describe any technique or practice that is used promote items or services that you sell using the medium of the Internet. It encompasses such activities as press releases, social media, SEO and lots more, but the end goal is generally to tell others about your product or service. Something than many online marketers have still failed to utilise in their work is pictures. You will see images used everywhere in everyday offline marketing activities, but nowhere near as much on the web. Lets take a look at some reasons why pictures should be an Internet marketer’s best friend.
Pictures Speak a Thousand Words
This is a well known saying that basically means you would have to write pages of information in order to match the detail you can get from a picture. Maybe you want to promote mens board shorts or ladies backpacks. Some things are easy to describe such as weight, colour and price etc, but it is not quite so easy to portray the blending of shapes or the finish of the item without the aid of images.
Catch the Eye
People see text everywhere they look, and this is especially true on the internet. Some blogs you see will only have pages and pages of text and not even bother about images. However, our brains have become very accustom to seeing lots of text online and so we blank lots of it out. Images on the other hand are almost always unique and so they catch our attention because we are naturally inquisitive. Ever since we were babies we have been attracted to anything we haven’t seen before, so images grab our attention frequently.
Images Show Quality
In a world where everyone seems to be out to make a quick buck and there are more scams than ever before, people crave security and trust from online retailers. Text can be written by anyone and everyone and so it doesn’t portray a great deal of trust. On the other hand, images tend to give an deeper insight into the product or the seller and so more trust is automatically given to the offering. For instance, you would often give more trust to a marketing message that gave you access to a picture of their ladies beanies for example, than one that relied only on text to sell it.
