What is it that makes the Difference?
It actually is more than just just where to place your ads on your website or blog. It is also very important how your ads look compared with the rest of your website or blog. Many people follow the Google advice to make your ads shine out with different colors to attract visitors to click on them. They should know better by now. We are no insects that get attracted by bright looking colors, the opposite, we are very shy humans who have become very selective in our desicion to click on a link or not. This site is a good example for what animates visitors to click on an ad. Thai Kick Boxing Koh Tao
Nobody really wants to click on a link to end up on a cheap one page website, and that is exactly where many of the Google ads end up. That is a fact even though i know that Google is activly fighting this by charging more for ad positions that lead to a one page site than if the ad leads to an informative website. If the website or blog is equiped with all the tiny bits and pieces that Google loves so much and that help Google to deliever relevant content to searches ,the Adword ads become cheaper. The four vital things you MUST provide to get your baloon started are:
- A Privacy Policy Statement
- A Disclaimer - Terms and Conditions
- A Contact Page – Form or e-mail Address
- A Site Map – Submitted to Google
If you have done those four things you will immidiately see your income grow and that is simply because Google will start serving higher paying ads to your website or blog. Imagine that for every click you recieve right now and earn 3 -7 cents per click, you would get 20 – 80 cents per click. That would tenfold your income at once wouldn’t it?
But why stop there and not improve your click through rate (CTR) at the same time? This can easily be done by ignoring Google’s advice i mentioned above. Make your ads look like they are a part of your site. Here is how it’s done:
- Make them look exactly the same like your other links on the site.
- Choose the exact link colors and text colors you use for the rest of the page where you place your ad.
- Make wise desicions on what ad to use where. Split test it over and over.
- Never let your ads look like ads. Integrate them in your text.
- Justify the text around your ads
Adsense Results after One Single Day
Using the exact technics desribed here i have doubled the revenue and the CTR on the example site below in One Single Day. Now that might not seem much but if you can do it once you can do it ten times. And i wouldn’t mind about 150 bucks more in my pocket each and every day, would you?
Now that your ads are fine and setup and ready to be clicked on, the only thing you need to start monetizing your website or blog are visitors. Thats right traffic.
Since we have come so far together, i won’t hold back with the information on how to get that train rolling. When i say train, i mean it as a metapher because like a train it has to start of slowly to gain speed and finally accelerate to full power. The many ways to buy traffic and speed up your visitor count artificially, i won’t even scratch here. Where i’m going is the one and only important internet marketing place of the year 2008, Social Networks, websites like MySpace and Facebook are traffic sources that won’t cost you a dime and they grow by the minute.
Social Networks equals Social Marketing
There are more than 2′000 social network sites out there right now. I just want to introduce you to the very newest and so far one of the fastest growing communities on the net, meet Yuwie.
Why would that be? Because other than the above mentioned networks, Yuwie pays you for every action you take on their site. They also pay you for friends you bring and their friends down to ten grades. They pay you for surfing their network or writing a blog – where you can promote your website for free – they pay you for anything you do. I joined and had traffic coming from Yuwie within two days. It’s a win win solution and the first social network that shares it’s social marketing revenues with their members. Others will follow, but why wait since it’s free to join.
